Damage taking heroes are the best at stopping the bad guys from killing your friends. By using abilities that ‘taunt’ (generate high threat), they can redirect nearby enemies to attack only themselves, and with powerful defensive abilities that mitigate damage from enemy attacks, they are highly effective at taking the hits.
